Missions Trip to Cuba – 2015

In early June of 2015 Calvary Chapel took its first trip to Cuba.  We went through the invitation of a ministry doing a baseball and humanitarian mission.  Our 15 member team was made up of 10 women and 5 men. The majority of our team was fluent in Spanish. Because of that fluency and our mutual faith in Jesus Christ we struck a deep bond with the church we worked with in the city of Alamar, just outside of Havana.

Our work in Cuba consisted primarily of light construction, health clinics, baseball clinics, house churches, children’s ministry and street evangelism. We ministered in 6 different house churches on the Sunday we were there and visited many of these churches again during the week.

We saw many individuals come to a personal faith in Jesus Christ. We also were able to encourage the believers we came in contact with.  The young leadership team we worked with asked to meet with us the last day of our ministry there and made us promise, God willing, to return.

We hope and pray that what happened in Cuba in our lives doesn’t stay in Cuba but spills over into our church in the states. The Cuban Church loves our Lord. They serve Him because of who He is not what He does for them. Their commitment is exemplary and affected all of us.
